The day before we left for our storm chase vacation in the States, a couple of storms crossed The Netherlands. Just when Saskia arrived at the train station one passed over Soest. It had some sort of disorganized shelf cloud which passed with gusty winds. The storm itself wasn't that impressive with moderate rain and no thunder.
Later that day we saw a more active storm from my balcony. There was more lightning and the storm showed a great whale's mouth effect. A good start of our vacation!
Later we learned that violent storms caused damage in western parts of the country. There even was a tornado report.
